Background:
Dhaka, the capital and the largest city of Bangladesh has been experiencing an extremely rapid population growth since the independence. This now stands, from only 1.6 million in 1974 to about 18.0 million in 2013 in Dhaka city. Over the same period, inadequacy of road networks has been identified as one of the main reasons for traffic congestions. Statistics show that the percentage of existing road in Dhaka city is only around 8% while the standard is 25%.

The purpose of this project is to facilitate north-south traffic movement by increasing the traffic-carrying capacity of Dhaka city. This Flyover will link with Dhaka Mawa road on the existing road network adjacent to Jhilmil R/A. The proposed flyover is about 11 Km in length with 4th Buriganga Bridge.
Objective:

- To divert traffic from Mawa road to Dhaka city. People who will be traveling from southern part of the country using Padma Bridge now can easily enter the city center without congestion.
