Approval:
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the project on 14 October 2015.
Background:
Ministry of Labor and Employment is responsible for developing and supporting labor welfare activities in the country. Currently the country has over 60 million labors among which a large number of labors are working in various industries like, clothing, leather, construction, transportation, jute, tea, tobacco, medicine, etc. Most of these occupations are physically oriented which often causes diseases or various health hazards. Besides, their family members also do not get proper or expected treatment. So the industrial market is losing its productivity due to the lack of healthy labor. To address this, Department of Labor has planned to develop an occupation diseases hospital in Tongi.
Objective:
The objectives of this project are:
  • To provide medical services to the labor as well as common people.
  • To increase revenue earning potential of industrial sectors.
  • To ensure more efficient utilization of industrial assets.
Project Scope:
Ministry of Labor has 82 decimal of land in Tongi to utilize for development of occupational diseases hospital for the labors working and staying around the industrial area. The capacity of the hospital will be based on the outcome of the feasibility study.

Development Period: 2015 - 2016
Procurement Period: 2016 - 2017
Status:
A letter has been sent to the Ministry of Labor and Employment dated 18/01/24 to withdraw the project from the PPP list.
