Background:
Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) under the Prime Minister’s Office is an autonomous body to make provision for the establishment and enhancement of economic activities through development, operation and management of Economic Zones (EZs) within the country.

Under the auspices of the Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA), the Mongla Economic Zone, situated near the Mongla Sea Port, is a development project spanning 205 acres, aimed at fostering economic growth through sectors such as apparel/RMG, jute, food processing, and shipyard, with construction anticipated to conclude by 2018 and plot availability expected from 2016, benefitting from existing electricity infrastructure.
Objective:
a) To assist the Government in designing, delivering, supervising and implementing the Project on the basis of PPP structure;
b) To structure the Project, develop commercial models, assist in the bidding process and award of the Project in a manner.
Project Scope:
- Participation of best available private sector developers in the bidding process;
- Financing of the capital, maintenance and operation cost by the concessionaire;
- Optimizing the revenue potential of the Project.
