Approval:
Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved the project on 16 January, 2012.
Background:
In 1999 Bangladesh government decided to establish a Hi-Tech Park to harness the benefit of advance technology by creating conductive investment environment in Kaliakoir, Gazipur. Government has allocated 232 acres of Land for creating a world-class business environment for Hi-Tech Industry especially for IT, ITES, Biotech, Telecommunication, electronics and R&D.

The executive committee of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority has decided in its 1st meeting held on 7th October 2010 to implement the project through PPP. The Government intended to give responsibility to design and build up all necessary infrastructures by its own resources. The Appointed Park developer (s) will also be responsible to manage and operate the Park for specific period under a concession agreement. All cost for establishing infrastructure, managing and operating the park will be borne by Park Developer. The Revenue collected by the Park developer as rent and service charge from the individual investors will be shared by BHTPA and Park developer in a Predetermine Ratio.
Objective:
To establish World class business environment for investment in Hi-Tech Sector that will help to achieve the goal of the Vision-2021.
Project Scope:
Design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Hi-tech park at Kaliakoir.
Status:
The project is in Development phase.
